Do you have graphic fantasy about sleeping with someone in a boy band? If so, this novel will be right up your alley. Otherwise I would say skip it. The main character is generally immature and selfish. I would have said always but she makes some redeeming choices at the end. I could go on but I’ll keep it short. This book generally gave me the willies and I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone outside someone fantasizing about sleeping with a barely legal boy. I only kept reading until the end because I had heard so many rave about it.

I understand the hype and I like that the author was the narrator. However, it just wasn’t for me.

I read this book in less than 24 hours and it was really good. I throughly enjoyed it. The author’s writing style sucked me and and kept me reading. But boy did I hate the ending. And not because they didn’t end up together. I was with Solene, I couldn’t see how that ended up together but I was not ok with the abrupt ending. It was like the author just stopped writing.

The book was almost 400 pages long, city after city of their love affair and it ended in the span of 10 pages with no follow up, no epilogue? That is the absolute worst and why this book gets 3 stars instead of 4.

I’d read a sequel from her about Hayes and Solene though. Holding our hope for that. I just want to know how it really ends. They don’t have to be together, I’m invested though and want to know how their lives turn out, who do they end up with, and do they find happiness? After 400 pages I feel like we deserve that.

"Don't go falling in love with me. Hayes Campbell"

"I'm not gonna fall in love with you. I'm a rock star. We don't do that."

"You're a boy band member." I smiled, fingering his hair.

His eyes widened and his mouth formed this perfect O. I assumed he was going to scold me, but then he stopped himself, his face settling into a wry smile. "Well," he said, "I guess all bets are off then."

This book took me by surprise. I didn't know what to expect and I can't tell you how much I loved this book. I'm 44 now and I found myself empathizing with both Solene and Isabel. I am a huge fan of boy bands and can't imagine at all what that would be like. It's a fantasy I can totally get down with though. I was thrown for a bit by Hayes being so young, yet so mature. I kept waiting to see if it was all fake. Then, it was so emotional wanting to root for Solene being 44 and getting her groove back and then young Isabel dealing with the world of being a teenager. The Idea of You will get you in your feels in the best way!!! I laughed, I was happy, I was sad, I was hotttt, all of it!!! I highly recommend it and now I just want more like it.

Couldn't set it down, but enjoyed it less and less once I finished it and sat with it a bit. Perhaps too superficial for me. The longer I think about it the more I hate it.

Me: I hate romance novels. I just can’t with them.
Also me: Why do I not hate this book?
