I like this one less in the first book in the series and I can't quite put my finger on why. Both books cover homophobia and the MC overcoming their own internal homophobia. This book deals with assaul, so it's heavier than the first book. Since it's so short, it's kind of insta lovey; they knew each other for a long time, so it makes sense, but things happen very quickly in the book. The character development for Cax is the main plot of the book, see him being more comfortable and more assertive with himself.

Cax and Axel attended a religious summer weekend sleepaway camp together and were discovered kissing. Cax disappears and years later, Axel gets a job working for the university Cax attends.

I enjoyed this one but the writing and editing didn't seem to be the high quality I usually see from Sarina Bowen. Quite a few errors in the book. I like Cax and Axel's dynamics a lot, though, especially the times they couldn't see each other and communicated only via email.

I don't really have much to say about this. It was a good time, the narrators were good, I liked that certain characteristics or issues weren't magically fixed and were carried all the way through the book. It was pretty heavy and there's a lot of intense topics but I thought they were handled appropriately.  I liked the first plot twist a lot because I haven't ever read a book that used that particular twist. The second plot twist was a little bit more run of the mill but the still interesting enough with consequences it created.

Some of the word choices and dialogue was bizarre though, not enough to impact my ability to listen but enough for me to ask why the author picked that.

This book is super sexy and perfectly steamy. Axel is perfect. Well adjusted and patient. Kex is timid and emotional. Verbally abused and trying to do the right things. Both are hot boys and found each other at a young age. This is definitely not real life talking but real life is never as good! A true happy ending and lovable characters.
