Spoiler ending  felt like too many twists that didn’t all add up or feel complete. Ending was too graphic for me. No loveable characters

This one was slow. I almost wanted to give up on it, but the end really picked up. Written and read by Ashley Flowers of Crime Junky podcast. My favorite part was the unique structure of how she revealed the story. There could be some triggering aspects, especially for parents.

So many plot twists, every time I thought I had it figured out,  I was wrong lol
It's well written... this would have got 5 stars,  but leaving it open ended bothers me.  I really hope there's a sequel!

It was an easy listen for sure. Some of the chapters are kinda dull, and there are some pacing issues but the plot was compelling enough to keep me going. I had some high hopes because of the author's background but this story is filled with a lot of conveniences that give the main characters enough wins to keep going.

I really want to give this 3 stars because it was worth finishing but the ending really didn't land with me.
Spoiler I hate that the author chose to leave it open-ended. It could have been really strong to know if she got away and was able to get to the police or if she didn't. So much of this story is propelled by emotion which is not the vibe I usually like, especially in journalism/ police procedure-type stories. I understand this isn't a true police procedure but there is enough in it to cause more structure than we got. Plus the big "twist" at the end of it being her "dad" that killed her wasn't really a twist in my eyes.

The author has a talent for sure, if I remember correctly,  this was her debut so she has a lot of opportunities to grow in the craft. Will check back in with her work in a few books.
