Finally, Charlaine Harris is back.

She managed to unite all her previous worlds into one, and this new world seems so real.

The characters are lovely, Charlaine Harris makes you feel with them and for them - one of the best is definitely Mr. Snuggly :D

The end was shocking - simply shocking and I would have never suspected that.

These are the reasons why I loved it - so I hope everyone else enjoys it too :)

I had an urge to read a Sookie Stackhouse and my library didn’t have the ebook available but this one was. Same feel. Different story. I think I’ll read the next one too.

This book is a disappointment, especially because I am enjoying the TV series based on it. It's very boring, has way too many descriptions of every person and every place. After all of the set up, the actual murderer was a strange revelation that did not seem to fit the plot at all.

This book showed up in my Goodreads recommendation and it made me curious. I enjoyed the authors Sookie Stackhouse series and I thought, why the heck not. This story sounds like it might take place in the same world as the Sookie series, since Vampires, Witches, etc are real and doesn't come a surprise to most so far. It does take place in a small town, but the similarities ends there. The story has it own cast of colorful characters, creatures and non creatures, who are all a bit quirky, and seem to have a mysterious reason to live in the middle of nowhere USA.

Although a bit slow to start, I did enjoy this book, my curiosity to find out where the story might be going kept me reading. Couldn't tell where the conflict was going to come from, but definitely liked how they all came together to help each other. Very interesting names, at least they were pronounceable. No cliffhanger ending but I was left with questions about a few of the characters stories, guess that will come in the other books. It's suppose to be a trilogy and I also found out it's going to be a television series on NBC this season. Will be curious to see how it translates to television.

Everyone knows True Blood, but Charlaine Harris also wrote a few other series mostly before the Suki books. Lily, Aurora, and Harper were interesting characters from very different (though believably coexisting) worlds than Bon Temps. The Midnight series plucks a few secondary characters from the earlier series and places them together in the quirky town of Midnight, Texas. There is Bobo from Shakespeare, Arthur Smith from Aurora's murderer book club, and Manfred who occasionally worked with Harper. I liked the earlier books and I enjoyed this one as well. Not particularly quick moving or exciting, but I like the people.

Also, I'm reading a lot of bad reviews comparing this to True Blood. This is not that. This has much more in common, quite literally, with her other works. Again, this is not True Blood.

Pretty easy to spot the twists and the characters aren't super compelling, but fine if you want something quick and light to read with a mystery/supernatural vibe.
