Kills me to give an LK less than 4 stars but there is simply TOO MUCH breeding kink in this book and it's NOT for me!

However one thing I will say I really enjoy/find intriguing about this series is the sense of mysticism that surrounds it. The Hathaways have such a deep familial bond, and the relationship between Win and Merripen seems very fated (its more than a love at first sight thing, it's much more magically described than that). I think this has some connection to the setting of Hampshire, which is often described as almost primordial with its forests and wilderness.

Anyways, if you like breeding kink this will be perfect for you, for me it was something I had to get around to enjoy the rest of the book.

Re-read. The following is my original review: 5⭐️ I was writing this story in my mind the entire time I was reading book one, and it could never have prepared me for this. I just love Merripen so much. Win is such a sweetheart too. They definitely didn’t have a straight line to happily ever after but I loved their story. This book was as great as the first.
