This is more than the story of a bookseller in New Zealand. It is the story of a daughter, mother, sailor (extraordinaire!), lover, survivor, and fighter. She was not perfect, but she was courageous and passionate, and that has brought her to the wonderful place she is in today.
There were some moments where I would have liked more context, detail, and emotion, but overall I enjoyed reading about her vibrant life.

It's a story of her life. Of running from problems, towards adventure. There are a lot of experiences written about in this book. Ultimately it's positive and hopeful.kimi72714's review against another edition

Ruth, the author, has lived a very full life and as such, as experienced a great deal, including many horrible circumstances. They are generally handled with grace, but look up the CW before you begin.
