3.5 stars. Another cute short story set before Amy arrives in Oz, at the start of Dorothy's reign of terror. Told from the perspective of Jellia, Dorothy's servant.

I enjoyed this little novella and getting to see more about Jellia. She was an interesting character to begin with in Dorothy Must Die, so I liked getting to know more about her!

The entire idea of the world of Oz is incredible. Whenever an author creates a world with characters that you care about with the power of their imagination it’s something to be admired.

The author of the Dorothy Must Die series, Danielle Paige, is continuously blowing my mind. Taking a well-known world like Oz and making it your own is definitely a feat. This Oz is dark and twisted with intrigue. The changes to some of the most beloved characters is just so intriguing.

I have noticed something slighting odd in the writing. I’m not sure if it’s an intentional part of the author’s writing style, but she tends to start out a little slow and then builds at the end so much that even with a resolution you’re left wanting more. I’m having trouble focusing until I can get home and crack open Dorothy Must Die tonight (I’m so excited!).

You must be thinking, did you like it then? Yeah. I know there are a lot of people that were disappointed in Dorothy Must Die, but based on the prequels I can’t imagine I’ll be bored. I LOVE the characterization of Glinda and Dorothy. The Witch Must Burn gives you more of Glinda and her evil ways and in a word, it was awesome. It seems to end with a great set up for the first book in the series to begin.

A few new characters were introduced in The Witch Must Burn, namely Jellia and Nox. I really hope to see more of them in Dorothy Must Die. I’m also looking forward to learning more about the “resistance” that’s slowing growing in Oz.

I would recommend The Witch Must Burn as the second prequel to the Dorothy Must Die series. These prequels are the perfect example of setting up the plot of the series and adding more enjoyment to the series, if read.

I really like it and read it iba a day but it was pretty similar to Dorothy must die and I wouldn’t read it again unless i’m starting the series. But it’s even better than the first prequel and the mc was more enjoyable than any other. I love getting to see the progression of Oz.

I really liked Jellia in the original books so I was So excited to see she had her own novella! I loved this one. I'm gonna say my favorite of all the novellas so far but time will tell. This one was very insightful into that few things she said in the later books and I liked that. I'm glad I read these novellas all after the real books.
