Kind of slow. Maybe too realistic? I like books that can take me away from the normal day to day troubles and this could easily be a real life story. Probably just not a good fit for me. I really didn’t care for the ending. Unnecessary.

Tyler & Elin Whitt are separated but still VERY much in love with one another. Their marriage came to a halt when Tyler suddenly leaves for a month after a work accident left him injured and unable to to do much. On top of the financial stress from his lack of working, Elin has been having difficulty getting pregnant. After he left, Elin is convinced that a divorce in eminent, her family and friends however know that it's not.

She gets me every time!

Adriana Locke has been blessed with the ability to tell the most beautiful stories, and this is no exception.

Written in the scars is about broken people, finding their way in this world. The family of Ty, Elin, Jiggs, Lindsay and Cord is a mixture of blood and friends and just family. The love they have for each other is so fiercely strong you feel it as you read this story.

You fall in love with these characters, you root for them, you care about their futures. You will look at life a little differently after you read this one, I know I will.

I loved everything about this book, well except for the last few chapters but I'll forgive the author for the ugly cry she caused me to have. This book has been on my TBR list for several years and now I cannot wait to recommend it to my other book loving friends.
Relationships are hard, marriage is hard. What would you do when tragedy strikes and your relationship with the one you love is tested? Do you run away and try to fix it on your own or do you stay and let the ones who love you help you?
In the beginning of the story I felt that Elin was being a bit hard on Ty but then we learn what happened while he was gone that caused her to react the way she does, we also learn the reasons why Ty felt he needed to leave. Ty wasn't just dealing with the physical pain from an accident, he was also dealing with the psychological pain that often follows. These two characters along with Jiggs, Lindsey and Cord will have you feeling so many emotions throughout the story. We see people who are dealing with real life issues. We see how humanly flawed we all are, how even with the best of intentions we may hurt the ones we love and cherish most. We are shown through their grief that through life's highs and lows we are stronger together. Each of these characters played an important role in each other's life. We see them being supportive even when they disagree with the choices being made, and we see how sometimes we need to speak up to the ones we love and let them know how they may be making a huge mistake, all the while still loving them regardless.
The last few chapters we absolutely heart breaking. I felt those emotions as deeply as the characters did. The writing is outstanding and I look forward to reading more books by this author

Knockdown, drag-out, ugly cry inducing...

I’ve read this story before, but I don’t think I ever reviewed it, silly me. This is the only time I have read a book that has inspired a full on ugly cry. Sure I’ve misted up for some other books, but this one...gah. I loved the story of a love that felt so broken, but yet so worth fighting for. The push and pull until the ultimate breakdown kept me up all night wondering how they would make it right. I loved all the characters and the turn at the end that ruined my night 😩😂. This story may be an old one, but it gets me every time. Adriana is truly talented and will force be a Top 5 author for me. If you know what’s good for you, you’ll read this and have tissues handy.

This book was not what I expected. I was enjoying it and it felt a bit slow paced and then I couldn't put it down and was sobbing. All in all it was really good, the message was strong and it resonated with me.

Kai Kennicott and Wen Ross are masterful at duet narration, and I always enjoy their work so much. I am always so happy to see Adriana Locke use them for her books- the Gibson Boys series and Landry Family series are great examples.

If you aren't familiar with duet narration, here's a quick definition of the two different style of multiple character narrations.

Duet narration = narrators alternating reading the male and female parts in a chapter.
Dual narration = narrators reading entire POV chapters.

Written in the Scars is so beautifully written- full of realistic emotions and such a fantastic story of redemption. As with all of Locke's books, her characters are well-developed and the dialog is believable and the story is overall just stunning.
