Alright y'all I am so disappointed about my Gregori. I have pushed this series up in my list to read just so I could read this book because I HAD to know about Gregori. I was so sure I was going to marry him and have his babies but now that I have read about the Dark One.. I do not like him at all. He kind of broke my little heart. And I HATE Savannah. You would think because she is the daughter of Mikhail and Raven that she would be a lot stronger but I found her to be weak. She whined ALOT! I wanted to punched her on more than one occasion and hello how do you just forgive someone who brutally takes your innocence because he was close to his dark side. uh NO! You do not worry for him. You punch him.. huh. I may be little violent it seems. but it's the truth. She just let the shit go. The only thing I liked about her was her sarcasm. She was funny later on with Gary, the human. I liked her relationship with him. And I guess she makes Gregori smile in his head or whatever so thats cool. But I hate weak females.

Okay so I thought I liked the whole life mate thing. Turns out I don't. I do not like that the males can force the female to make them slaves. I keep getting more and more upset the more I read this series. Jacques really pissed me off because he forces his life mate to do so much and Gregori topped him. There is a difference between being a protective alpha male and what Gregori was doing to Savannah.

I will eventually get back to this series but I am moving on for awhile. Julian will have to wait for now. I think I have read too many of these books in a row and I am getting pissed at the domineering males. Plus the stories are all kind of the same so far.. it's kind of getting boring and predictable.

I actually didn't finish the book, that's how much I didnt like it. After reading the first 3 books I have decided that they are all basically the same story just with different characters. A male carpathian finds a lifemate, but the lifemate doesn't want to give up her independance and so there is a conflict between the main characters for the first few chapters and then the male either convinces her to change her mind or he tricks her into mating him. Either way eventually the begin to love each other and rightt about that time, a vampire tries to kill the lifemate. And so on and so no.

So, I just finished this book in the Carpathian's series after reading #2, Dark Desire. I actually enjoyed the first half of this book a lot more than I enjoyed the last half. I think it's because I enjoyed getting to know how Gregori and Savannah grew to love each other as wholly as they did. That love being the most important plot point, was resolved a little less than halfway into the book and I just didn't personally find the sub-storylines as interesting... I'll probably pick up more books in this series when I'm ready for another release from reality!

I think i have officially lost my patience with this author.

Everything about this series is hopelessly repetitive. From the plot (Uber-Alpha male finds his lifemate. The chosen woman always whines about being bossed around initially, but that aspect is usually quickly forgotten. Someone threatens the couple's happiness/safety. Again, that is usually quickly and far too easily resolved. Lifemates have their HEA)...the phrasing, and in the case of this book, Dark Magic, even the actual dialogue, and descriptions of the two main characters are used again and again. Basiclly Feehan is recycling the exact same story over and over again, and simply changing the names, the woman's hair color (all of the females are described as beyond beautiful, with a tiny waist, narrow ribcage, and large breasts), and a few other small details.

The ONLY reason i'm giving this 2 stars instead of 1, is the fact that i ended up liking Gregori more than the previous two male leads, Jacques and Aidan.

I have returned to this series numerous times over the last few months...hoping that maybe, just maybe the next installment might capture me the way the first book, Dark Prince did. I wasn't even able to finish this book, i was so frustrated. And i hardly ever give up on a novel.

Dark Magic by Christine Feehan – This is my book boyfriend in this series. I love it when he appears in other books! I read books 2 and 3 quickly to get to him faster! Lol! Happy Reading!

It’s safe to say Gregori Daratrazanoff is my absolute favourite Carpathian. But this is hard to read in places because of his desperation to find a lifemate to save his soul but give Savannah the freedom she needs.
Savannah was raised by formerly human raven and definitely gives Gregori a run for his money. But he needs her defiance, her humour and her love to convince him he deserves her. Some scenes were harder to read than others, but the shining light is Gary (my other favourite). I look forward to great things from him.

Loved this one. Gregori's character was complex. The growth Savannah had was good! The relationship and how it developed has been my favorite so far. Loved the bayou and swamp themes. Overall I think this story shows a lot of growth.

Here is my order so far:

#1 Dark Magic
#2 Dark Desire
#3 Dark Gold
#4 Dark Prince
