She'd never meet another man like him. I'd never have another friend like him. Fate had stolen something precious from both of us. And I wasn't giving fate any more cracks at me.
Drew McGovern has had to be the rock, the strong one, for her family for as long as she can remember. When Drew loses her fiancée, Colby, unexpectedly, she doesn't think that she'll ever get over it, choosing instead to bury herself in her work and in routine. When Drew has the chance to join Colby's team of storm chasers, she sees it as a chance to step outside herself, to feel a little closer to Colby by experiencing the things that he did.
"I've been thinking today about finding a new challenge, and that feels good...It's probably just a mood, I'm sure it'll pass."
"Grab hold of the mood before it passes...Life's too short not to."
What Drew doesn't expect, though, is just how important Aiden O'Neal, Colby's best friend, and also part of the team, will become to her.
Since the loss of his family to a killer tornado, Aiden has refused to open his heart, afraid to lose another person. Although he'd loved Colby like a brother, Aiden has always harbored feelings for Drew, and the close quarters and constant togetherness once Drew joins the team prove to be the ultimate temptation.
Brenda Rothert's books are always go-to reads for me, and BLOWN AWAY is one that I was really looking forward to. I very much enjoyed the whole idea of the storm chasers, and was more than happy to live vicariously through them. The attraction between Drew and Aiden creates a delicious and sexy tension, and the rest of the characters make it all the more entertaining a read. In the end, BLOWN AWAY is about trust, about love, and about stepping outside of our comfort zones, all of which help us become the best versions of ourselves. 4 thoughtful, exciting, adventurous, and sexy stars for Brenda. I can't wait to see what she has coming up for us next.
