This captures Jonathan's voice so so well, it feels like we were just chatting at a coffee shop. I have been told time and time again, directly or indirectly, that I am too loud, I'm too much, I won't stop rambling on and on when I'm excited about something. It just feels so good to be reminded that I can find people who will love me for all that I am. Looking forward to getting my hands on his next book!

This feels very authentic. It’s clearly written by Jonathan, so that does mean it’s not structured as nicely or does anything special, but you can tell so much thought and effort has been put into it. Jonathan explains issues within the LGBTQ+ community because JVN feels they’re important to share, not because the publishers wanted to put them in. I’d especially recommend the audiobook, I really can’t imagine this coming across as well on paper.

This audiobook was genuinely a hopeful one. We all mess up in life, we might not immediately achieve our goals, but if you stay true to who you are despite what others might say or do, you’ll get there in the end.

It feels wrong to give this a rating. This memoir is raw and at times confronting as well as being the bright, inspiring JVN you might have seen on Gay of Thrones or Queer Eye. This is a truly vulnerable vision of his life and all its trauma and triumph.
The audiobook experience was lovely, it sort of feels like you're having a chat. I love that when faced with sharing a particularly difficult part of his life story there is an interlude consisting of a report he wrote as a child. It is an incredible book but there is a lot of pain in here so I'm sure JVN would be ok with me saying, if the discussions of childhood sexual abuse, addiction, self-destructive behaviour or disordered eating are triggering for you it is not just ok but important that you practice self-love and don't retraumatise yourself through this story.

It is fantastic and well worth the read. Thank you Jonathan Van Ness for sharing your story and I hope that it proved that yes, your fans will still love you if they see all your parts.

It's my own fault for not reading up about this book a little more, but it turned out to be a much more difficult read than I expected. It covers a lot of important heavy topics that are often stigmatized (including sexual abuse, self-destructive behavior and HIV) and I really appreciate that Jonathan Van Ness decided to share his story openly like that.

The audiobook is amazing, narrated by the author in a very conversational style, familiar from Queer Eye. That may not be everyone's cup of tea, but I really enjoyed it.
