I love Suzanne Wright however this one fell a bit flat for me. I wasn't a fan that the main couple had a lack of communication and were sleeping together in a FWB situation. We didn't get much time with them fully accepting their feelings and being happy together. Overall still a good book just not my favourite of Wright's work

SW never disappoints. Her writing is so good with mostly dialogue. There is always several layers to the storyline. Levi was awesome and Piper was perfect for him. We had a jealous ex, a serial killer, and a psychopath after a main character. I really enjoyed the book. Harper and Knox will forever be my fave's. I hope we get more as this demon world is well thought out.

I wasn't feeling this, and with the exception of a few scenes, I was bored. Shame becuase I had been waiting on Levi's story.

Not sure why I keep reading these.... ilAlso have the feeling that the beginning of the series were better.  Reading the later ones in isolation is a doable, then you read another and notice how bad they are.

I read this entirely too fast and now I’m sad because I will have to wait until Larkins story. The book was awesome, as all of Suzanne Wright books are. I really enjoy reading about the demons and their world, especially their gifts. I loved the characters, Levi and Piper, and how…reasonable they were with each other. The plot was great and boy was I shook at the end when I found out who was after Piper! I had to double track because damn I was shooketh!! Overall great story and I literally cannot wait for Larkins story

listen i love suzanne’s books as much as the next girl, but the repeated formula is really starting to get to me 3 and if you know me, you know i love tannerdevon. they’re MY couple. but this is basically a repeat of all her previous dark in you books, and i can explain why rather easily.

the characters can be described like this:

male — emotionally stunted, commitmentphobe, dominant, alpha.
female — strong lead but incredibly horny for the mmc.

then the plot ALWAYS goes a little like this:

they meet. it’s instalust, but they hate each other. obviously. then they’re forced to be in close proximity, usually due to a threat in the fmc’s life. he becomes protective, territorial, and possessive. they’re horny all the time. they finally break and have sex. and then they have sex again. and then some more. they have a lot of sex, basically. but then the female lead develops feelings and is depressed because he would never reciprocate because of his personality (see earlier). he realises why she’s withdrawn and finds it stupid because the first time they had sex, he realised he was never letting her go. they become mates. all seems well. oh no. she’s kidnapped. he goes feral. he saves her. they’re sad over wounds. and then they get their happily ever after.

and i love suzanne’s writing but i wish we could see something different for once. (i read the favor before the dark in you series, and the plot is pretty much the same minus all the danger). give me submissive male leads in bed, give me friends to lovers, give me a teeeeny-tiny bit more slowburn, give me the male lead getting kidnapped instead.

like i said, i have really this series but it would be so so much better if their was something distinct about each of the characters, plots, and relationships. because at this point, you could argue that knoxharper + rainimaddox + piperlevi are all the same. i love the anchor plotline, but it gives the perfect opportunity for friends to lovers but it never is and it always disappoints me a little.

i’m sure this is mostly personal preference, so i don’t really have much to complain about. enjoyed this story and i ate up all the tannerdevon crumbs (they had a baby!!!!!!!) and i’m lowkey hoping for wayyyyy in the future that we might see anaïs and asher be slowburn childhood friends to lovers but alas, i’m sure if there is a second gen book series for this, i expect the plots, characters, and relationships will turn out the same once again.

It's a really fun addition to the Dark in You universe! I always enjoyed Levi as the voice of reason to the other characters (especially Knox) and I enjoyed him even more in this one! He was a great MMC. The FMC was equally fun, entertaining and captivating. I loved how their story grew.

I have read, and will continue to read, a lot of books by this author. Sure she has a little bit of a formula, but I LIKE that formula! It’s like eating chocolate ice cream. Who turns down chocolate ice cream? But at the same time, you’re probably not going to give a rave review of every place that has chocolate ice cream. Happily, I have given rave reviews to this author before, and so I always come back for more - because even if this particular book maybe wasn’t the most memorable, I still enjoyed it anyways. Hopefully Larkin’s book is next.
