I read the version that isn't illustrated already. I think I need to get this one for the bookshelves for my kiddo.

Written at my level when it comes to this subject matter - unfortunately that's at a kid's level so it felt like Bryson was talking down to me. But I guess that's what warranted.

Misleading title since this is actually a science book but all in all it was a fun reminder of all the things I learned in school.

Few books have been as influential on my life as Bill Bryson’s A Very Brief History of Nearly Everything. When I first read it at the age of 8, my love for science was ignited in a way that set my life on a fantastic course. I remember devouring it and becoming fascinated by all the wonders of life that have been discovered through the years.
This book is a fantastic exploration of the wonders of science. As the name says, it covers everything from cosmology to evolution, in a fantastic way that even children can understand in a way that makes sense. It is also fun in many ways, using humor and illustrations to explore a topic and make learning interesting. I highly recommend gifting this to a young child or even picking it up for the sake of curiosity.
Final Score: 92/100

An interesting read but not what I was expecting. Wish this book had been around when I was a child.
