This one is more campy and heavier on the romance relationship.
The writing is more disjointed between scenes. Almost as if the author started writing a situation she was excited about, and then was like oops I guess I need a quick backlash summary to get here.

The first one was so good and this one only average, took me way longer to read than usual, with none of that “I literally can’t put this down” feeling.
Ultimately, the wedding followed immediately by pregnancy trope killed it for me. She so carefully built up this character that is fiercely independent and badass and willing to go the extra mile to save her family and friends, only to kill it at the end by having her say she would have been less reckless if she’d known she was pregnant. It’s not exactly inspiring confidence for the next book.

I went straight into this after finishing the first one which was a mistake.
The banter that was kind of fun in the first has gotten so repetitive and same same and the relationship between the main protagonists has become irritating to me

This was a LOT of action scenes with sex interspersed throughout. I skimmed quite a bit. I don't feel like much here contributed to the plot of the trilogy. However, the ending was good and I am really looking forward to the final book.

the pacing was a disaster, the sex scenes were unnecessary and i simply do not believe what i am told about cat; but these books have always been a guilty pleasure i don't read for the quality storytelling. sick fight scenes tho, i'm rooting for jocasta as the only member of the family with any braincells at all

its a fun book. the plot is good, there’s a lot of action and love the magic system
but i don’t feel connected to the characters at all, i feel like something’s missing
overall its a good book , surprisingly didnt suffer from middle booj syndrome
