Another good read all about Della Tsang, like the other novella. Not sure it was worth the £1.34 due to the length, but it was a cute short story.

It gave us much more depth into Della's character and what hides behind her veneer. I also love the Steve angle. I really hope it leads somewhere, the poor girl really needs something good in her life.

A short but sweet read.

I am so ready now to read the last book in the series!!

I liked this book from Della's POV. It was interesting and it didn't take away from the main series at all. It was probably a bit unnecessary since it also added nothing to the series, but I enjoyed it nonetheless.
For those of you who would like a quick read, this may be a good way to pass the time whilst you wait for your bigger and better reads to make their appearance in stores.

This novella immediately follows ‘Turned at Dark’ in the Almost Midnight collection. It tracks Vampire Della and her potential love interest--a shapeshifter named Steve--as they perform a recon mission for the supernatural world’s version of the FBI. Tasked with infiltrating a Vampire gang and determining if they are using murder as an initiation rite, the pair has a chance to prove themselves. Della resents having Steve essentially named her protector for the duration of the assignment, and is further agitated by the fact that her family has little to do with her and her ex-boyfriend is now engaged. Her many angst-ridden distractions may prove her undoing.

While Della isn’t much more likeable than she was in her origin story (still rash, judgmental, and headstrong to the point of stupid), there was at least some fleshing out to entice more reader investment in her character. Steve, however, makes the story worth reading. Not only is he easier to connect with, but he’s somehow able to be patient with Della’s many faults and wounded self-absorption. It’s just a pity we never experience any telling from his point of view—as Della can be a tiringly acrid head for readers to be stuck in.

The prose had good flow, though more brief in physical descriptions than this reader would prefer. And while there was a lot more worldbuilding than in ‘Turned at Dark,’ there still seemed to be a certain depth lacking. (Although this may not be representative at all of the full-length novels in the series.) For readers who have already started into the Shadow Falls series and particularly enjoy Della as a character, this sort of mini-quest side story is likely to appeal.

Content Note: The sensuality level runs closer to a New Adult than YA, and includes a topless in-bed makeout session (sans actual relationship or commitment.)

I liked this book, it was a nice sweet short story on Della. I really liked Steve and that scene with Lee at the restaurant and the naked feet scenes and just the whole book. I really loved this book.

Hunter skriver just nu. Längtar!

After reading this, I can't wait until next year to continue reading about Della.
