I was attracted to The Corey Effect because of the second chance romance and its inclusion of tough character backstories. Andi's childhood was realistic and painful and I understood all of her complicated emotions.

The prose in this novel was great and flowed well from scene-to-scene. Whenever I had difficulty connecting with a chapter, it was the writing that kept me reading and generally immersed in the overall story.

The childhood moments between Andi and Corey were adorable, and their present-day chats were cosy. I loved the portrayal of his physical affection. Even so, I'm not sure I totally felt the 'Corey Effect.' Ten years is a long time apart and I needed more relationship building/tension for it to truly hit home.

Ultimately, while I found myself engrossed in the author's writing style, I don't think I was quite the target audience. I'm not one for YA romance, even if it was just flashbacks. Emily was also not something I expected, but I'm glad Andi meshed well with their little family.
