There are many elements in this book that I enjoy in my thrillers…unreliable narrator, past flashbacks, multi timelines, a female MC that is ruling in a man’s career, frayed friendships and a shaky relationship.

Given all those things, I wanted to love this book so much and I read it to the very end hoping that it would be an exciting. However, the story was boring and very predictable.
Plus it didn’t keep my attention as it took me longer than normal to read this type of book.

If you are newer to the genre and enjoy the above elements in a story, give this one a go. For me though, it was a miss. 2.5 stars

Many thanks for my arc for my honest opinion.

I picked this book up in the charity shop. I’ve read and enjoyed another by the author so was keen to read this too.

Overall, it was ok. It was fast paced and I was certainly drawn in, however the characters were completely unbelievable and I found the ending to be especially weak.

Basic paint by numbers thriller. Nothing wrong with it per se but anyone who reads a lot of this genre will figure it out it no time and likely be a tad disappointed.

Didn’t flow well, ending felt very rushed. Also additional random plot line that wasn’t necessary

Although this was marginally better than Blood Orange, it was still unbelievable and quite predictable. In fact the storyline was very similar, with a female barrister who enjoyed a bit too much to drink and a little nod to S&M. Not to mention another ‘perfect’ man who *shock* wasn’t as great as he seemed… and a friend who wasn’t really very nice!

I did like the way it was structured, with the deaths first and then the unreliable narration, which does give the readers a bit of anticipation… until it becomes painfully obvious who the victims are. The additional information from the pathologist and others adds nothing to the story.

While I could forgive a feeble story line, the book itself isn’t very well written and again the characters are so awful that there’s no sense of empathy or relatability.

I also struggled to understand why an educated woman and a barrister would share incriminating evidence with a stranger over Facebook messenger and allow herself to be so easily manipulated by a friend - no matter what the circumstances.

After giving Tyce’s books a fair shot, I sadly won’t be reading any more of them.

Overall an okay book! It was pretty heavy at times. I also found it somewhat confusing at some points.

I didn’t really like any of the characters and even the protagonist was lowkey getting on my nerves. The plot was alright, as I said the topics were pretty heavy and at times I wanted to scream at the characters for doing these things / letting these things happen.

I did enjoy the ending and thought that overall, it was a good read !
