We have hiked a handful of these trails now. Sadly each hike left me disappointed. Not with the trail and beautiful scenery itself, but with how the book portrayed major aspects of the trails like waterfalls and outlooks. A view of Snoqualmie falls was barely seeing it through a stand of trees, and it was at least 15 miles away. An outlook was a bench looking out at what would probably be a nice view except it was totally blocked by large fir trees. A cascading waterfall was a stream that fell perhaps 12 inches from one rock to another. I was getting frustrated, but I couldn't decide whether I should be frustrated with myself for picking the hikes, or with the book for portraying them one way on one page and then explaining that the outlook was actually nominal at best on another page. Finally I found myself searching out trails on the Washington Trail Association website where I could find color pictures and reviews from other hikers. I think this book will be a secondary resource at best from now on.
