Really short for one of her books but I liked it.

What a pile of rubbish and a complete waste of time that book was. I never read a book to the end if I absolutely hate it and that was the case with this one. Boring, Win Garano is soooo good looking and the DA is soooo hot... yawn... Additionally it is written in present tense, which I absolutely hate!

That was my first Patricia Cornwell book and quite possibly my last.

I don't believe this is the best Cornwall book ever written. It was still a good suspense thriller.

I would say that 30% of this book deals with what Winston Garano is wearing or how handsome he is. I mean, sure there is a cold case to solve... minor political intrigue... possibly unrequited love... and even current crimes (like the rape of a main character - quickly turned into a non-issue) that one might think would take precedence in the reading. One would be wrong. How handsome that man is... How mysterious his past... how much he knows both.
The initial crime itself is "solved" almost as an after-thought. The only reasons I will read the next book in the series are that I own it already and I am hoping that there was more to the storyline that may appear in it.

Average pulp summer type read. Very quick read but nothing remarkable at all. Ho hum.

Disjointed. I didn't know what was going on half of the time. Had an interesting ending but because of the ad hoc nature of the rest of the book, it lost its impact. I was trying so hard to follow the story that I didn't even try figure out who'd done it.

I read about half and would say this one is not as good as her others but I am really looking forward to seeing the movie! Can't wait!

Not terribly exciting or climatic. Like the last [author:Patricia Cornwell] book I read, the story is suddenly finished and they tell you how it all worked together, rather than show it. Lame. I looked, but I couldn't tell if this was abridged; I hope the print version has more content. Rather disappointing.
