Wowwwwww . definitely the darkest book so far, but so much growth in everyone and so many beautiful moments. Friendship is so powerful and amazing!!!! I am so sad i only have one more book.

This book kept me on the edge of my seat an even though the ending is β€œhappy” I still think of how it affected non-central characters

In my opinion this book is one of the best Rick Riordan has written for his Greek mythological universe. All of the main characters in the series go through a great deal of character development just in this book alone, which is not an easy task when you have 7 main characters (plus Nico). Yet none of that character development feels rushed and it all blends cohesively into the overarching story narrative of the demigod children acquiring the strength and mental fortitude to defeat mother Earth. Additionally, this book has one of the better endings of the series by building up suspense for the next book while also keeping me satisfied as a reader, it's well written and doesn't feel like a cheap cliffhanger.

Once again Rick Riordan slaps. I'm putting this as my second favorite of the series, right underneath The Son of Neptune, but not by much. Watching Percy and Annabeth navigate Tartarus is just so, so exciting (too crass?). The curses? Nyx? Tartarus himself? Hell yeah bring it on. I loved exploring the darkest edges of Greek mythology, and it was so engaging to and emotional to see the limits and strength of these characters we love and believe in pushed to the extreme. And of course there's Bob - a beautiful and heartbreaking storyline that also calls into question what it means to be a monster. All in all I lived for the Tartarus chapters of this book - they were new, exciting, gripping, and beautiful.

Luckily, the rest of the story held up as well. It's hard to compete with the Tartarus storyline, but I enjoyed what was going on above ground as well. Hazel takes the crown for me - watching her learn to channel the mist was fucking fantastic and super interesting. I love her so much. Frank's character growth was also amazing to watch and I'm glad he got redemption after the last book. Tbh everyone's character growth was wonderful and I love them all. Also gotta give a shoutout to my boy Nico who had a rough go of it but we love him and I'm proud of him <33

Overall we love Rick and this book is great

I take it back

THIS WAS THE BEST ONE SO FAR

Percy & Annabeth getting through tartarus with Bob & small Bob was absolutely incredible
I was laughing out loud when they started talking about the brochure tour through Tartarus and Nix goes β€œNo demigods have come by on their tour” GENUIS!
Truly incredible
This is sooooo much more exciting and exhilarating than the OG Percy Jackson story
10/10 would recommend

Thank you Abby Ziegler for the inspo

I went back and forth between 4 and 5 stars and ended up with 4.5 stars rounded up, mainly because the ending was exciting and sets us up perfectly for the final book. This is a subseries that has gotten more and more interesting with time, partly because all of the "kids" learn and grow so much during this time and even the characters that I wasn't 100% on board with initially I've started to feel invested in. I am really looking forward to finding out what Niko has been keeping quiet about because clearly something happened to him when he was in the underworld and it has affected him greatly. But we've found out a lot about other characters and it's been so much fun to watch them step to the plate. And I continue to like that Percy and Anabel recognize their strengths and weaknesses, but know that every single time, they're allowed to make a good choice and that their past choices do not define them and they're allowed to make better choices each and every time. But I also like that they never completely lose their sense of humor with each other and use it as a coping mechanism when things get really tough, knowing that the other one has their back. Taking a 1-book break to read a book club book but will be reading the final book soon!

Loved it !!! An amazing adventure it was!
The horrors of Tartarus and the challenges to reach the doors of death.

The best thing about this series is that we get to read the story in each characters point of view. The way each character face their challenges. Every character has been given equal importance throughout the story. You know what happens to the person who suddenly disappears from the surface of the earth.

As a reader who loves mythology I always find Rick Riordan's books very informative. This book never failed to give information on different myths. And definitely it's a lot!

Talking about the characters, in this book the characters get more control over their abilities. Especially Frank and Hazel. They realize their capabilities while Facing their fears. Jason being kind towards Nico and Piper learning to wield a sword besides being a charms speaker. The way Piper defeated Khione was incredible. And that's where she realises the need to learn fighting. Nico accepting his fears and starting to live conquering it.
Leo the Man!! I'm loving this character! Hyperactive techie is finally in love! 😍 Leo makes the perfect book boyfriend πŸ™ˆ
Annabeth and Percy deserve an award! 😡 For all the hardships endured in Tartarus. Not to mention that they deserve the best OTP as well.
Bob the Titan was extremely sweet for a titan. πŸ’™ I was heartbroken that they had to leave Bob and Damasen at Tartarus.
All these little developments in each character together made the story super exciting and enjoyable.

I couldn't drop the book since starting it. A page turner! And it's always good to read an adventure with Percy Jackson and his crew! πŸ’œ Definitely a 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 /5 stars!!!
