When a guest on a popular radio show drinks a glass of the sponsor's soft drink and falls dead, it's time for Nero Wolfe to sit back in his oversize chair and sent Archie Goodwin out to start gathering information.

A great mystery and a fun read and this story gives a soft introduction to Wolfe's archnemesis which is always a blast.

A guest on a popular live radio program is poisoned and drops dead during the soda sponsor’s key promotional spot, a mid show segment when guests and hosts pop the tops on the advertised product and imbibe on air. This entry in the Nero Wolfe series opens a week following the dramatic death with Nero and Archie devising how to get in on the investigation to earn a badly needed healthy fee. A pleasurable plot which, as usual in Stout’s Nero Wolfe stories, is secondary to our protagonist’s verbal jousting and interactions.
This book begins what is known as the Zeck trilogy featuring a Moriarty-like nemesis.

Classic Nero Wolfe. And I just can't get enough of Archie Goodwin.

Solid whodunnit with some charming Archie/Wolfe moments. Wolfe interviewing a fangirl teenager was just too utterly!

A guest on a radio talk show drops dead after taking a sip from a sponsor's beverage. For fans of the series, mostly notable as the first appearance of Arnold Zeck, master criminal.
