2.5 stars.
Far too long. About halfway through I realised I didn’t care at all about any of the characters, their ‘journeys’ or what might happen at the end of the book.
Tedious prose, irritating character details, and a ‘twist’ that fell flat on its face.
Easy to read if you enjoy this sort of thing, but needs to be about 200-300 pages shorter than it is.

I was disappointed in the way this novel ended.
That may seem like a strange way to begin a review, but I finished this book with the hope of a decent ending. The author is very much like the character, Frances. Her books are losing their steam, and this hodge lodge felt like one last attempt to hold on to a writing career.

What a wild ride this was! It was a slow burn and with the variety of characters, I understand some of the criticism; but for me I enjoyed it. Mostly told through Frances, but probably the highest POV count I’ve read in a bit. Some great twists; this one seems made for TV, so looking forward to the Hulu adaptation.
Trigger Warning: heavy discussions re suicide and drug abuse/use
