Fun fact about me: I love Malorie Blackman.

This book is one of her most beloved and I now know why. She has such a strong authorial voice that you can hear through all of her stories, and yet each stands on its own. I laughed out loud and I wanted to cry multiple times throughout this book. Dante's character development is SO good and so believable. Having the side plot of Adam's life that becomes so important is just so excellent, if heartbreaking.

I like that we don't end with a solution to absolutely every little thing, but there is a sense of hope that doesn't feel tinged with doom and gloom. Maybe that's the joy of reading books aimed at young people, but I do love that Malorie Blackman's characters always make the right decisions in the end.
