Since reading and loving book one I heavily suspected this was going to become one of my favourite book series, and, oh my, I wasn't disappointed! It's very original and delightfully rich and intricate, with great character depictions and a fantastic post-apocalyptical world. It seems Scott Hale can see into the depths and through the complexity of the human (and inhuman) soul and pull from it, giving us in precious words a terrifying and magnificent story.

I'm happy to see where the unexpected end went! Sometimes I'm a little anxious about the ending of a series, because what was a great journey can often end in a good (or sometimes not so good) way, instead of the magnificent tone that accompanied us until the last pages. Luckily this was not the case!
We get many answers and everything fits nicely together, but some things are left open to our interpretation and imagination, which I see always as a plus. :)

The anthologies are still in store for me, so I'm also glad this is not quite over yet! :)
