Likes: POC sherlock type and POC police inspector. Modern setting. Interesting remix of Sherlock-type as Completely Horrible but Genius Person.

Dislike: I'm a bit tired of the slacker boy wunderkind detective trope especially when coupled with the fastidious and attentive police inspector. I just want something new if we're going to do mysteries like this.

I think this is a solid mystery but I just found Garvie way too tiresome--I didn't want to deal with him let alone spend any time in his head.

Just didn’t want to read another book about a dead girl because men are horrible. Like it didn’t justify the mystery? I dunno the awful humans didn’t make up for  Garvey trying to be interesting.

I enjoyed this I found it really gripping. It was a good mystery and it kept me guessing until the end. I thought the plot was slightly overdone and convoluted but not too badly, it was still enjoyable and possible to follow.
It was mainly just the casino bit that ruined it slightly for me. It was kind of tacked on the end and kinda random. We never really met the owner of the Porsche and because of that, it felt kind of out of nowhere.
I liked the character of Garvie, even if he and his friends were mildly annoying at times.
