Read this with my 4th graders! They were obsessed. I genuinely enjoyed it too.

This was such a great little book. I would love to try their competition with the MS students.

Andrew Clements practically was my childhood. Me and my Mum both loved them, so she would read them to me (Or as I got older, I would read them, and then let her read them to me, because she was too slow 😄). I read almost all of his books growing up, and I loved them! I read them so many times.
This was never one of my favourites, and I think I only read it once or twice, but when my mum got it out of the library for my brother, I was curious what I would think of it now.

No Talking is a fun book for younger kids. I enjoyed it⎯it was engagingly written, and sort of funny at times⎯but the characters were really petty, and seemed a bit immature for ten... I would have maybe put them at eight or so.

Overall, I think this is a great book for younger kids. Six to ten, I would say, would probably really enjoy this book. I just don't think this book stands up for an older audience.

For a kid's book, quite good and intresting. For an Andrew Clements book, rather dry. His pen pals book looked intruiging, but this one was just more of the same. Its merits include the expressive illustrations and blessed brevity. If the book had been any longer, I might have real cause to condemn it.

3.5 stars. This is a fun one for middle grade readers; I'd say 3rd - 6th, maybe 7th grade.

The title of this book is No Talking and the author is Andrew Clements. I liked this book and would recommend it to othersDave is a boy who is in fifth grade. After reading about Buhhda he decides to not say anything for an entire day. Then he tells Lynsey and now it's a big competition about who can say the least words, Boys or Girls. There is a three word limit for a conversation but you can only speak if someone says something to you first. All of a sudden Lynsey makes it even harder, you cannot talk at home, on the bus or anywhere. Who will win, Boys or Girls?

The fifth graders at Laketon Elementary School like to talk. In fact, they talk so much that their teachers have dubbed their class "The Unshushables". But lately, Dave Packer has been doing some thinking about talking. He decides to see if he can go a whole day without talking and he very nearly succeeds. What stops him? In the cafeteria, he overhears Lynsey Burgess talking on and on about a sweater she'd wanted to buy. Before he can stop himself, he's insulting her, and soon after that he's challenging her and all the other girls in their class to a contest. Boys vs. girls: who can say the fewest words in the next 48 hours?

Another hit from Andrew Clements. He takes an interesting situation, puts it in the hands of some very smart kid characters, adds a few bumbling grownups who eventually see the error of their ways, and wraps it all up with great humor. Highly recommended.
