giving this one TWO WHOLE STARS because, even though terrible, this book finally contained elements of plot that moved the story forward AND the smut was goofy.

I’m kicking myself for not catching on to Midas’s real identity. Definitely suspected him saving her was a set up, but didn’t think much more of it.

Unlike the previous 2 books, I don’t recall this book having cringey moments. I also don’t think Auren made any stupid decisions that had me yelling at my kindle (growth <3).

Please read the trigger warnings in advance, as the book contains violence, abuse, mutilation and drug use.

But now to the 3rd book in this series. I am just shocked at how well written this book is. We are in a castle the whole time, but there is so much going on that you feel like you are there and it doesn't get boring for a second.

The love between Auren and Slade develops into something breathtaking after a long slow burn.

This book was everything!! This was an incredible third installment of the series and I could not put it down! The character development is incredible! The MC finally learns how to fight and stand up for herself and seeing her growth through these books has been beautiful. The slow burn/tension build up was perfect and when the tension finally broke, it was absolutely amazing. This is one of my favorite romances I've ever read. There were so many beautifully-written, swoon-worthy lines and dialogue. I loved this book so much and can not wait for book 4!
