A cozy mystery on an Australian island, plus partying on a yacht! Sign me up. This was a fun story and it even had my favorite…turtles! I knew who the killer was early but that’s normal with a cozy.
All in all it was a good solid read. 3.5 stars

I really wanted to enjoy this book, but I just couldn’t. The premise sounded interesting and I love cozy mysteries. As an audiobook it’s really important to have a good narrator. This narrator struggled a lot with pronouncing Spanish names and differentiating the characters. I may try other books in the series in print format.

THE GIRL WITH THE DRAGONFRUIT TATTOO is the third book in the Tropical Island Cozy Mystery series by Carrie Doyle. A colorful and inviting cover will make you dream of a tropical getaway, which is where the New York transplant, Plum Lockhart, lives and works at her villa rental company. The author sets the scene with tantalizing descriptions, so when Plum sails out to sea on a billionaire’s yacht, with the rich and fabulous, you can’t help but want to tag along. Except, there seems to be a murderer aboard and one of the yacht’s employees is the victim. And Plum has been sent undercover to find the culprit.

This book is a light-hearted mystery with over-the-top characters. Plum is reminiscent of Agatha Raisin in her behavior and style of investigating, as well as her interaction with others aboard the yacht. As she “interviews” everyone on board, there are a few clues to follow and I enjoyed her Agatha Christie-style reveal. Setting aside any quest for realistic portrayals, the story is a fun escape and a perfect beach read.

I was provided with an advance audiobook, thanks to NetGalley and Dreamscape Media. The narrator, Elizabeth Cottle, did a terrific job capturing Plum Lockhart’s voice and attitude, adding to the enjoyment of the story. She also did an admirable job making each character distinguishable from the others, so I never was at a loss on who was speaking.

⭐️⭐️⭐️/5

This was a quick, interesting cozy mystery. I loved the setting and the culture that is part of this book. I felt that the mystery itself was a little bit lacking to me, but I liked the drama and the flow of the story as we find out who "dun it".

Doyle has a great writing style that is just perfect for cozy mysteries and I am interested in picking up some of her other works to experience this world a little bit more!

The Girl with the Dragon Fruit Tattoo is the third mystery in the Trouble in Paradise! series. When Plum Lockhart is pulled into another murder investigation, she goes undercover aboard a yacht.

This is the first mystery in this series that I have read and I feel like I may have missed out on a little by not starting at the beginning of the series. I just couldn’t get into this mystery that much and I didn’t connect with the characters. The mystery did keep me guessing until the end and there were moments when I started to get intrigued by the story, but then it fell flat for me again. I think the biggest problem for me was that I didn’t like any of the characters, especially Plum, and when you don’t like the main character it’s hard to get into the book. Overall, for me, this was an okay mystery with characters that weren’t for me. There are plenty of good reviews for this book, so maybe my downfall was not realizing that this was part of a series and not starting from the beginning.

Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for an audiobook copy of this book!

I've read the two first in this series and enjoyed them (therefore I requested this one) but this time I was a bit disappointed. In the beginning it was focus on her business and her new relationship with Juan Kevin but when she boarded the yacht with the others, those things fell away. The characters on the yacht were fun and entertaining but it was Plum's life I was more interested in.

I also felt like things that was in the story in the beginning fell away. What about the phone call from Victoria who threatened her? She just disappared from the story? The rivalry between Carmen and Alexandra? Plum's business?

It was not bad, I just wished for other things from the story. :)

Special thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for a free, electronic ARC of this novel received in exchange for an honest review.

This book is part of the Trouble is Paradise cozy mysteries series.

Plum Lockhart is living and working on the Paraiso island. One day she runs into her old friend Ellen from New York who invites her to a yacht party that is hosted by a famous manager. The party is full of rich and famous guests, but Plum’s attention was caught by the server who was trying to get help from Plum. Soon after the party the server dies, and Plum agrees to join the host and guests of the party to solve the server’s murder.

I loved this book. it was an easy read and I enjoyed the author’s style.

This was an adorable cozy mystery!

Taking place on a yacht in the Caribbean, there’s an accidental death…or was it murder? Combined with turtle egg thievery, Plum is called in to help solve yet another case on an idyllic island.

Early on, I had an inkling about who the villain was, but there was doubt (and SO MANY suspects who realistically could have done it!) by 85%, I still didn’t know for sure—and was both surprised and not surprised at the final reveal. Lots of twists!

I loved so many of the characters—just like in real life, everyone is hiding something!

Pick this up (or listen to it, the audio is excellent and suitable for all ages) if you want a fun summery cozy mystery!
