I did enjoy the story, it has a slow beginning and slow end but it's was a nice, softer dark romance. (Does that make sense?)
Anyway, once Vivian and Dante were actually attempting to be a couple the banter! The jokes!! Omg loved it. Dante groveling and courting *chefs kiss*
Dark, quite brooding MMC with a quick witty fierce FMC who are both stubborn, hot, and funny when they want to be??? AAhh Sign me up 🫰🏾✨️
That being said... I do have one negative thing about the lovely Anna.
She's SUPER repetitive. There is so much telling of emotions and thoughts over and over rather than showing us or letting us infer. It could have been 50-100 pages shorter without the constant inner monologuing.
I feel like she killed her own banter with it.
The moments that didn't have monologuing I was kicking my little feet and in shocked with how these characters were just vibing
Lets see if KO Pride is better bc I will be continuing

Would’ve been 4 stars if not for the weird feel of the pacing. The first 20% felt rather fast, and then the middle section was a bit of a slog to get through.
Current theories for the rest of the series include Sloth being Luca’s book, Envy being Christian’s and Gluttony being Sloane’s. I’m not sure about Lust yet.
Representation:
- Chinese protagonist & side characters
- Filipina-Chinese side character
Graphic: Emotional abuse and Sexual content
Moderate: Death, Gun violence, and Death of parent
There are a few consensual, variably explicit sex scenes in the second half of the book. Dante’s grandfather died just prior to the story’s start, I believe via cancer. It’s mentioned multiple times, but never in detail. Other content warnings from the author’s website include blackmail, parental neglect, family disownment, and robbery at gunpoint. The last is only one scene about half through; no one is shot.cosmic_crystal's review against another edition
