A great audiobook of short stories, all of which are about women and some focused on fertility, a stage of life I am currently in. I love whatever this genre is, it’s dramatic and off kilter and makes you fall into the rabbit hole of metaphors and parallels.

Short story collections often have a few good stories and a few meh stories. I didn't really see any meh in this one. Some I liked more than others, but every story had sufficiently worthwhile darkness or lyricism or humor or strangeness (sometimes all of these things together) that I marveled at Hunt's creativity and consistency. I've liked all of her work that I've read so far, but this one's a real stand-out.

Both The Yellow and The House Began to Pitch were amazing. Some stories caught me more than others and I really enjoyed the parallels between the first and final stories. Definitely on my radar now and I plan to read Mr. Splitfoot now.

Uneven, somewhat anticlimactic and very aware of itself, but not altogether bad. Some good surrealism and perspective on the female experience - in some stories. Others are just glutted with metaphor and annoyingly stream-of conscious.

I enjoyed each of the stories within this story but I feel like I didn’t understand the last chapter/ending which really brought down my overall care for this book.

The author of Mr. Splitfoot, which I've not yet read but have heard good things, has published a group of short stories that are, unusual and a bit eerie. Strange things occur in the dark of night and Ms. Hunt tells of these occurrences in a manner that leaves the reader imagining what might happen after the last printed word is read. The author talks of pregnancies and the inability to become pregnant, of infidelity and insecurity. I suppose you could say it's mainly women's issues but her stories are written so well and are so original that it can be enjoyed by all.
