Interesting take on a mafia romance. The author did a great job at leaving the story open for further expansion. It would be interesting to read about Gio and Emma.

Okay so I thought writing this book review would be mildly embarrassing in a “wow this is problematic and yet I’m having a good time!” type of way because that’s how I felt about the author’s other book Until I Get You. I really enjoyed that book even with it being definitely problematic!! I had a good time. This book felt like it needed to be darker, more problematic, maybe more violent? Idk I wanted more from the mafia part. It was still a pleasant read but definitely a regular romance book with a mafia subplot and not the problematicly-dark-spicy book that I expected.

⭐️ 4.5 "Loren's Ballerina" Stars ⭐️
Because You’re Mine was at the top of my highly anticipated releases for this summer! I love Claire Contreras’ writing and this novel mixing the mafia and ballet worlds sounded amazing! As I expected, I loved this story so much! The sizzling chemistry between Catalina and Lorenzo mixed with the thrilling twists made this read so entertaining!

"That's how Loren makes me feel. Bare and open to him. It scares and thrills me."

Lorenzo Costello is one broody, sexy, commanding alpha! I loved him so much! He’s dark and you feel the secrets and mystery enveloping him! When he’s in the same spaces as Cat, it’s simply explosive! The banters between them are bursting with a sexual attraction that’s searing hot! While he acts with arrogance, this attitude is what brings sassy repartees from the usually reserved Catalina.

Catalina can’t resist Loren's charm for long and when they embark on a relationship, they only get hotter! Claire Contreras brings the heat to a high level with these two! The fact they both try to deny what have is more than sex is silly, because it’s clear as day from the sweet way Loren is with Cat that their hearts are invested in this! The longing gazes, the small touches, the sweet kisses, every one of those moments share between them are just perfect!

While their relationship is a great enjoyment of this story, the suspense is also very addictive! There’s some secrets I just couldn’t wait to uncover! The aura of mystery made the guessing exhilarating. The supporting characters are so interesting and I was very invested in learning more about them too.

"I'm addicted to watching you dance."

Because You’re Mine is an exciting romance that gripped me from start to finish with the power the main couple exudes and the excitement procured from the mobster business! I can’t wait to read more about this obscure world!

This story has a lot of mystery, intrigue, and smoking hot romance. Lorenzo (Loren) is putting himself in the path of Catalina (Cat) but the reasons why are unknown.

Cat agrees to attend a college course for her sister Emma who is away on assignment in Chicago. While taking the class Cat, gets tangled with the teacher Loren. He may be sexy as sin, but he isn't going to make it easy on her. He makes it known he is interested but Cat doesn't have time for games, she is busy as a full time principal dancer. Loren has a dark side to him and he keeps it hidden from Cat as much as he can.

When some people from Cat's past reappear, nobody is safe. A war is started and Cat and Loren are just some of the targets. While Cat has distanced herself from her mobster father, she isn't safe from his enemies. Cat also has to wrestle with how she feels about Loren once she discovers his ties to her fathers world.

This story had a lot going on but it also drew me in and I am not usually one for Mafia romances. Very well told, lots of steam, and a dominate alpha that is hot as sin!

This book tried to do way too much in 250 pages and didn't necessarily do it effectively. The FMC was also an annoying crybaby (I'm pretty sure she cries at least twice a chapter), her conclusions and motivations made absolutely no sense.

This book was a struggle to finish and definitely turned me off from the rest of the series.
