The Folklore of Discworld by Jacqueline Simpson, Terry Pratchett

Some interesting information, but I would have much more appreciated a version that acknowledged Discworld was a literary creation, and straightforwardly talked about its sources and influences in folklore, rather than the pretense that it is a real place and the similarities are "amazing coincidences."

A very interesting read, for hardcore fans of the Discworld.
Learned quite a few things, and absolutely loved getting a glimpse from Terry Pratchett's mind, how the man actually found his ideas, and how they almost all derived from our world.

Would recommend if you can't get enough of DW 🥹

A fun diversion. Terry Pratchett is always a good bet. This is a comparison of discworld and real-world folklore done in a tongue-in-cheek fashion. It's quite informative and contains relevant quotes from discworld books.

If you're a fan and are looking for a gentle, humorous read to fill in-between books then this is ideal.

I try every few years but I have never been able to fall in love with Terry Pratchett's writing. It is either too much like other stuff I've read or to ridiculous to get engrossed in the story line. This backstore-mythology collection was like that. I will give him props for his creativity but I need more to my fiction than what Pratchett can offer. For die hard fan of Pratchetts, you will love this extra information on an already famous and thorougly discovered DiscWorld. For all others try Jasper Fforde if you want ridiculous, laugh out loud literature with substance or even Piers Anthony's sexists works. Both are far superior to this jumble of thoughts.
