⭐️ Just not keen on where the story was going, in particular the romance arc. Still really loved book one though!

Man, I enjoyed the first book SO much but this one fell flat for me. The first half of the book was pretty great but then the entire second half just dragged on with unnecessary brooding and all I could picture is Elsa in her ice tower pacing will repeatedly singing Monster(from the Frozen broadway show.) Which was okay the first time but by the 5th it’s just like, “okay, then stop??” I think if this book cut in half it would have been good.

This book throws you right back into the action 6 months from the ending of the last book. The plot rockets from about 1- 100 in the span of a page. I started and finished this book in the same day. That is how engrossed I was and how much I needed to know how it ends.
The dual perspective gives us two very different sides of the story. Each side has enough angst and high drama that you won't feel bored with one. This is great since lately a lot of dual POV bore me.
The romance is more subtle in this book and it focuses more on Kate and Corwin growing as individual characters. And there is a lot of growth that happens. From book one through the ending of this you feel that each character grows and changes. Some not in the best way.
Overall this was the perfect duology. If had action, magic, horses, heartbreak, and love. If you enjoyed the first book you will Love this one.

My heart was broken and put together so many times throughout this book. Overall I loved the duology and the characters. For me personally the only thing that would have made the books better was if they were written in first person. (For me to give both of them 5 stars even though they’re in third person just shows how amazing they were.) Also, Corwin is the perfect candidate to add to your book boyfriend list ❤️
