I want to give this book all the stars and then some! It kept me completely captivated and the narrator is excellent! Mr. Green’s portion the end was the cherry on top! April May (her name made me giggle and her character is 100% someone who would be named April May) finds a massive 10ft tall sculpture in the streets of New York. She makes a video with her friend Andy that starts a journey she couldn’t have expected. I deeply appreciated how intelligent the science of this books was and felt but also that it wasn’t so nuanced the average person like me couldn’t comprehend it. The little rag tag team of characters felt like actual friends and their troubles also felt relatable. I find it’s hard for male authors to write female characters but I didn’t feel that way with this book. An Absolutely Remarkable Thing is truly that, absolutely remarkable. I’m also really glad I have the second book already purchased after that ending which gave me real life goosebumps!

I listened to this entire book in less than three days because it just kept me so engaged the entire time. I honestly want to go back through and read it again, but maybe a physical copy with highlighters and a notebook to write down my thoughts as I read because I think the themes are very relevant right now, and it was also just a really good read. Like I’ve been in a bit of a slump lately, but I couldn’t put this down.

I would give the book a much higher rating, but Hank Green managed to write one of the worst protagonists I've ever come across. Fuck, April May is just awful. I was rooting for her death from beginning to end of this damn book. She's just a pure scumbag to everyone around her. Annoying. Selfish, narcissist who was still worrying about views in the midst of dying!! Her character alone brought the entire book down. Had it been written from the perspective of literally any other character the book would have garnered a much higher rating. But as it is...

This was an interesting reading experience. I was interested in the story, but I didn’t love it. The characters were intriguing and I liked April for the most part she’s unlikable(that’s the point), but it was frustrating to read at times. This was funny and interesting and I learned a lot about some random topics which I enjoyed. I did also like the commentary about fame as well as like hate groups and humanity. I think I will continue on with the series because the ending was kind of shocking and I did enjoy the last 100 pages a lot. I also like how this was told and how the narrator would speak to us at times.

Ah, this is difficult. I should have loved this. I wanted to love this so much. But unfortunately, I didn't. I did love the middle part with the puzzle, I basically flew through that. But the first 40% were really hard to get through and although the second half got better, I didn't feel much. I think this was my biggest issue with the book. I really liked the premise, the topics discussed here, the bi representation. I liked how media and the life of a person who suddenly becomes famous is depicted. And I understand that the protagonist is an unlikable character on purpose. I even liked that she had flaws and made mistakes (even though I got annoyed when she didn't learn from them at all). But at the same time she has issues with feelings and shuts them out completely, so I really had trouble to care for her story and her cause. Because I didn't feel anything. I didn't hate it, I just didn't love it either, so my rating is somewhere in the middle.

A real page turner that honestly killed me. It was thought-provoking and engaging and filled with juicy nuggets of random information that my brain will forever store. Immediately ordered the next book in the series because I desperately need to know what happens next!
