3.5 stars. I got this books because we visited several National Parks this summer. My children were so excited and I thought it would be a great introduction. However, of the 6 we visited, she only went into depth about 2. It was a great disappointment and they quickly lost interest. I enjoyed the information but wish more were elaborated on as well.

As someone who loves the outdoors, seeing new parks and learning more about them, this book is absolutely fantastic! With so many detailed photos and fun information, I think this is the perfect way for kids to learn more about our National Parks! This is definitely a book I'll be buying for all the kids in my life to share the love of the parks with them!

I love the art in this book! It's so fun to look at all the pictures in this style of art. Each featured park has a page with an overview and a second scrapbook-type page with info about different flora, fauna and man-made structures in the park. It's a pretty neat way to read about some of the most popular parks.
I was a little disappointed that it didn't include all the parks, instead just focusing on the major ones. Hopefully that would get kids interested enough to learn more about the ones that aren't featured though.
This would be perfect in a 4th grade classroom when we learn about National Parks.

A cute little handbook to the National Parks of the US packaged in an adorable art style. This is aimed at a younger audience, but I found it easy enough to read through.
The book is divided into geographical sections with a map showing the locations of the park. Each section contains a slightly more in-depth look at some of the parks listed.
It isn't meant to be a comprehensive and detailed work of educational material, but I do wish it was a little more detailed for some sections. The chapter on the West Coast for instance mentions black bears and the dangers of leaving out food around them multiple times but doesn't really do so for the East Coast. And, you know, as someone from there, I can promise you we have plenty of black bears. So, in some regards, there is some inconsistency at play.
The font choice is also a little strange. It was hard to read on my computer screen, but I could read it on my phone. It looks nice with the art, but it's sort of an odd choice for a book aimed at a younger audience.
The true delight of this book is the lovely art style covering every page. This is the sort of book you leave sitting out just to flip through to a random page now and then, just to look at the art.

The artwork in “National Parks of the USA” was amazing. It would make a good present, or would be good for coffee tables. Personally, I would have liked to have seen actual photos of everything but the art was so good that I didn’t mind too much.

Read this one recently with Jackson, and we both loved it. I had seen it at my school library, but we checked it out from our public library because Lily randomly grabbed it. It does a great job of portraying the diversity of US National Parks in an artistic and compelling as well as kid-friendly way. I grew up loving the idea and the experience of the National Parks, and a 6 week family trip to a lot of the biggies when I was in early middle school was one of the highlights of my childhood. I hope to do the same with my own children, and this book was a great way to get Jackson (who didn't need much more encouragement to be into nature and camping) into the National Parks even more. To top it all off, I learned a good bit from this book myself, especially about the National Parks in tropical regions, about which I knew almost nothing.
