My second favorite book in the series, even if it did cut me all over again. Bran is such a fun character, and the foxes even ominous and terrible.
The sense of foreboding and malice is palpable but the ending is so sweet.
I sobbed at one point and everything that happened after was so spot on about dealing with difficult situations. I also love the dialog about however unintentionally cruel the light is to protect humanity, the old ones really fail to be humans themselves.
I was worried that this series would not hold up to the test of time. Of course there are some issues, but it seems very minor overall, and a sense for the deep respect of humanity prevails even when verbiage ages poorly.
Can't wait to pick up the last book!
