A great introduction to what promises to be a fascinating world! I just wish it wasn't so short, dammit. (That there are more stories in this universe is a soothing fact.) The story made me think I was reading a movie/tv episode only in book format, which was pretty fun.

Ein netter Lesesnack, nicht weniger, aber auch nicht mehr.

I felt like the plot of this was pretty basic and the characters were kind of flat, but that’s not entirely surprising given the length (less than 50 pages). However, the world building is fabulous and the characters do have potential, so I’m definitely interested in reading more from this world.

This was amazingly interesting!! It’s historical setting in Egypt is really fascinating but also the world is interesting. The clockwork angels, the ghouls, this idea of supernatural creatures with steampunk elements and added religious overtones thrown in. It all meshed together really well.

I adored the little rebellion AND THE QUEERNESS! I didn’t know this was sapphic until the end when there were some subtle hints and it made me even more excited to continue the series. The chemistry was amazingly well done for such a short book!

I can’t wait to continue the series.
