I focused my reading on the Mexican stories...definitely a traveler's perspective on life in the 1920s, and written with a traveler's distance from the characters.

I tried very hard to get through this book of short stories but I just could not get into any of the stories.  They were well written but just had no interest in either the characters or storylines.  Not recommended
