By the time I reached 75% I was so exasperated, I just didn't care anymore. I was so happy to reach the end of this book. This story contains 10 stories within a story. Too many characters with a lot of descriptive back stories for each and every character. If half of the characters had been left out, I would have enjoyed it so much more. You see the long and winding river on the front cover? Well, that is exactly this story, but way too long, and it winds in a hundred different stories.

Lovely! Mysteries, an intricately woven plot, lovable characters, science, nature....this book has it all. The audiobook is masterfully told by Juliette Stevenson. This is one of the rare books I wanted to start over again the instant it was finished. More layers and meanings and secrets will surely fall out of this story the more it is read and re-read.

Oh good god this was awful and way too much vaudeville style plot with way too many stories that did not connect and did not fit to each other. What utter rubbish.
