This was everything I could have ever wanted. For me I wasn't a twenty something in the late 90's but I loved Sex and the City for that slice of big city life for the time. What it was always lacking however was someone who looked like me as the lead and this delivered all the charm and with with a plus sized lead. I loved every minute of it and jumped quickly into the second novel. Even though it was written in the 90s it doesn't really feel dated, aside from technology references it still rings true for plus sized woman navigating dating and life.

This was a great book! It was my first Jennifer Weiner, and I will definitely be reading more.

This book is about a late twenties single woman struggling with what she thinks is everything around her and everyone around her from her guy problems to coworkers to family issues. Through a process of anger and frustration, she has to realize that to deal with her problems around her, she must first deal with herself. The book gives a good opportunity for introspective thought.

I hated the MC—she was just too annoying and bitchy, while simultaneously being completely unaware of both personality traits.

I had not read any books by Jennifer Weiner before this one. When “In Her Shoes” (the movie) came out I saw it, liked it, and bought the book as a gift for a friend. I never read it myself, despite her frequent recommendations. Last year I randomly checked out Good in Bed from a library. I didn’t end up reading it at that time either, opting instead for Bridget Jones’ Diary. So, when I stumbled across it at my favorite local used bookstore I decided to take it home with me. I read the first few chapters and, to tell you the truth, I got a little frustrated at the (sometimes whiny) self pity from the protagonist. I got over my frustrations, though, because in all honesty, anyone that has gone through a break up has probably done and said the some of the same things as Cannie.

It’s a good thing I picked the book up again. Instead of being emo for grown-ups, like I thought it was going to be, it turned into a beautiful and haunting story about a woman conquering rejection, body issues and self esteem, career pressures, and finally motherhood. Good in Bed is not, by any means, a light read. And I probably wouldn’t recommend it to someone still feeling the fresh pain of failed relationship. It’s also not really about being “good in bed.” But it is surprisingly funny, clever, and quite charming.

If only this book doesn't drone on self-pity, maybe I'll consider adding another 2 stars.

But it hits some spot, all right. Larger women, behold.

SpoilerShe got pregnant, I googled if she keeps the baby, the internet said yes, and I couldn’t care to keep going after that

This book was slow i’ll admit, took me a long time to get into it. But once I did I finished it in one night. The last couple of chapters had me crying. I related to her even though I have not gone through what she (Cannie) has gone through. Her heartbreak was mine, I felt it all.

Amazing book about a bigger woman finding her true identity
