I struggled with this book for two main reasons. First, not much happens for the first half of the book. Setting up the story took way longer than needed and it got boring. The second reason was once the story started to get interesting, it also got confusing. I felt like the author was setting up for the characters of the next books too much instead of focusing on the current storyline. You get thrown a bunch of information in the second half, yet because most of the info being included is for the sequels, you’re only getting half of the story. It just felt disappointing, as I didn’t feel like this book gave a complete story, more like fragments of multiple stories. Also, the characters were fine, I personally didn’t get attached to any that would make me want to read the sequels. The book had potential, but it just lacked the added something that makes me want to keep reading. I think this book could have used more suspense to keep the reader enticed and turning pages.
