Seriously, who wouldn't want to be claimed by a fierce, protective warrior who would devote his life to you? Apparently not Kali. Kali is much too independent for that and she also has this idea in her head that her brother (Dustin) must be kept alive even if it costs hers. In the six years since the aliens showed up, she has served as her brother's head of security. Her brother and their former friend each occupy and control opposite halves of Chicago. They used to work together but after something happened, they split. But it wasn't just that that caused this rift. The two of them have vastly different personalities and leading styles. Dustin leads to protect the well being of the people that depend on him, while the other guy leads with fear and violence in his desire for more power. So these two groups have been fighting it out for a few years now. Much too long according to The Alliance, so they call in the one guy who will put an end to it once and for all. Razor.

Razor has already flattened major cities on Earth and Chicago is the last one he has to deal with. It's a pretty standard mission for him and he doesn't see anything bad that could happen. Until the helicopter he is in is shot down and crashes into a building. Fortunately for him, Kali is close by and can't just walk away without making sure that anyone who might have survived gets out alive. It was a pretty close call for the both of them. From that moment on, Razor can't get this human woman out of his mind.

It isn't hard for Razor to track her down and watch her. Which has him feeling an unfamiliar emotion....worry. When they finally meet back up to talk, things go horribly wrong and Kali gets herself hurt pretty badly. But it gives Razor the chance to take her and claim her as his mate. Something that doesn't really go over well with Kali. But when a snow storm hits, she'll take as much good times from Razor as she can get before making her escape. That doesn't end up going so well for her either. But it does allow Razor and Dustin to come to an agreement, one where Razor gets to keep what he's already claimed.

Much like the last book, after the couple leaves Earth, you think all will be well and we'll just get them adjusting to new life together. But no. Again, the guy finds himself in trouble with the human female seemingly the only one who can rescue them. I mean, really? This is getting pathetic for these huge, fierce warriors. But we do get a lot more of Dagger's rescue that I expected to get in this book.

What frustrated me was the numerous misunderstandings that could have so easily been cleared up if these two would have talked about it. Like, how hard would it have been for Kali to tell Razor what that blue guy (I can't remember his name) offered her brother while name dropping Razor. So much of her distrust of Razor was because of him and it was misplaced because of his lies.

This is the second in this series and again this has been a real treat. Again my copy is on audio and the narration is very entertaining.

I really like this series. I like the strong female characters. The author consistently has the heroine as the ‘rescuer’ even though she is surrounded by alpha male types.

There was definitely some cheesy drama that did not fit with the character’s personality (Locking the door/Mopey crying shit).
Also the author needs to expand their vocabulary- the word husky is used at least 8,000 times in describing the main characters voices. Come on. Get a thesaurus.

So yea, I like this series and I like the characters but the writing itself could use some development

I enjoyed this. The MC's were hot, the banter was fun, the storyline was a little lame, but not too unbearable.

In the second book of the Alliance series Razor's Traitorous Heart we get Hunter's oldest brother Razor's story. Razor is a serious warrior with an intimidating reputation for quelling uprisings and smoothing the path when native insurgents make the transition to a peaceful pact with the Alliance difficult. The city of Chicago hold the last of the hold outs in the large city and Razor is sent to either accept a surrender or destroy the city and all of it's inhabitants. Kali and her brother Destin are fighting to keep a rival group of holdouts from taking over and destroying what is left of their home. Kali, like Jesse in book 1, is in a position to save a Travitor warrior in need and risks her life to save Razor after the helicopter that he is traveling in is shot down.

Razor's Traitorous Heart is another fun installment of the Alliance series and now more than ever I am looking forward to seeing who will be next in line to get their own book. Will it be the spitfire Taylor and the disgruntled and damaged Saber, or will we finally get Jordan and Dagger's book? Oh, the possibilities. One of the things that I appreciate about this series is that Smith is able to deliver a complete and satisfying book centered around one couple while pulling the threads of the secondary characters further out to tempt the reader into the next book in the series. Well done Smith! I will definitely be looking out for book 3!

**I received an ARC from the author in exchange for an honest review.**

Another success. I loved Razor's and Kali's story. Plenty of action and romance. Cannot wait for the next book.
