Normal people say, I can't imagine feeling so bad I'd genuiney want to die. I do not try and explain that it isn't that you want to die. It is that you know you are not supposed to be alive, feeling a tiredness that powders your bones, a tiredness with so much fear. The unnatural fact of living is something you must eventually fix.

Could not recommend this book enough if I tried.

This book very skilfully explores the topic of mental health and how mental health conditions affect not only the person diagnosed but those around them too.

There are moments of incredible sadness, humour and hope.

Whilst some might not find Martha likeable she was certainty relatable and I personally was always rooting for her and Patrick.

A difficult read due to the topics covered but I still struggled to put it down and would actively recommend it to others.

i said goodbye and it wasn't enough, one word, too quotidian to contain the end of the world. but it was all there was.

SOB. this book was simultaneously so sad & yet so beautiful & i don't know how to feel other than it lives up to it's title brilliantly.

At times I saw so much of myself in Martha, a truly unlikeable character, that it was difficult to read at times, especially since Meg Mason did such a good job putting you inside Martha’s head.

Also to note, the synopsis on the back of the book made it seem like the plot would be her going back to her parents’ and figuring out how to build her life again which is not remotely the plot.

Wow, I felt like I was sucker-punched. This book is going to stay with me for a long time.
