It started to bum me out too much. There was a lot of tearing down each other between characters and it was hard to follow why… like people just being mean for mean’s sake. So I guess I’m just too soft to have seen it through. Genuinely just bummed me out, even though, that was probably the point, lol.

Written well, I liked the prose and it's refreshing when you get an unlikeable protagonist. I don't have to like someone to want to read about them.
While the prose moved rating from 3 star to 3.5 star, ultimately I feel like there were too many things introduced that went nowhere, and the story kind of petered out.
I need a little more time to digest and think about this though. It just didn't quite hit for me.
> To be fair, I also started this and Penance by Eliza Clark the same week, read them both for a few days before I kept getting the girls in each book confused and had to put this aside to finish Penance first.
