this book was ADDICTIVE. i'm absolutely reeling from the twist and cliffhanger at the very end of the book, and will be immediately getting my hands on the other two books in this trilogy. the worldbuilding in this book was admittedly a bit shoddy, but it didn't necessarily need to be extremely well-developed to do what it needed to do within the story. the characters and the way they form relationships and interact with one another (particularly the three sisters) is definitely this book's strength. all of the major characters are extremely distinct in their personalities without it feeling tropey or as though they're rooted to their singular most dominant trait; these characters are complex and well fleshed-out. the relationships are also complex and well-crafted. the twists keep the story going without ever feeling cheap, and are always able to be tied back to previous chapters that clued the reader in.

GOD the cliffhanger at the end!!! the twist!!!!! not over it i need that sequel in my hands rn

The overall plot of the story is quite tropey however the characters are interesting and it makes you want to know more. Beatriz’ part often made me laugh which was a little different.

The world building is almost non existent in this more character driven story but the information at the start of the book addresses this.

It’s a shame there wasn’t much on the Empress that’s the villain but I’m assuming she will be much more prevalent considering how this one ended.

Castles in Their Bones is awesome! Bring on the sequel! :)

My Rating / Score: 5 out of 5 Stars on Goodreads' rating system. 10 out of 10 on my own scoring system.

This was fine, but I was honestly pretty bored for the majority of the book. Sophie and her journey were really the only part of the story I felt invested in, but obviously we know how that ended. I'm not sure that I will continue with the rest of the series.

so this was an experience tbh

This book is an ok book yk...?
Not a lot of people will like it but it was genuinely enjoyable? But it was a long book, and it took me 2 months since there were times it felt boring.

The book overall is good, i think i would've gave it a 4 stars if i had more interest in the plot?

It felt fast and confusing, but the read was slow, like at times you might skip details but it's like decent tbh, but it's confusing sometimes

This was my first book so this is my opinion now in the present!

I really liked all three of the sister’s perspectives equally. And the premise: the sister are married to princes / a king of three surrounding countries in order to help destabilize these countries for their mother to take over. It was a good balance of political intrigue without being too complex.
The sisters are all 16 years old and the book definitely reads YA (especially their romances), which is why this book is not a 5 star for me.
