Silly and irreverent, this book is a fun, quick read with plenty of why choose spice. I had not read the previous ones in the series and it read fine as a standalone. The plot is predictable but it is well-paced and enjoyable to read. And I possibly know more about Norse mythology than before I started?

Iola is hilarious as the FMC. As an example, she says to the reader “if you have to ask who my number one Skatsgaard is, we can’t be friends.”  Obviously, it is Alexander. She never says so but this is the only possible answer. 😂

Jör, “the dramatic danger noodle,” has anatomy that challenges the idea of binary seggs characteristics (I would not go so far as to say Jör is inters3x since they are not human) but, more importantly, they are super lovable and fun to read. I could
Picture their wild outfits and it made me laugh. Fen, the wolf daddy, is super smoldery. And Surt, the stubborn dom is endearing in how possessive he is of Jör. And of course the reader is in on the joke, knowing it is inevitable that he will cave and eventually join this group.

Secondary characters are almost non-existent, with the exception of one whom the author is clearly setting up for their own story.

Aside from the aforementioned monster who has a multiplicity of anatomy, there is no real diverse representation to speak of.

I give it three stars, which to me is like a solid C. It’s satisfactory but Nothing to get too excited about. If you are looking for beautiful literary craft or something that challenges your thinking or emotions, this is not it. But if you want a fun distraction with lots of spice, then have fun.

3.5 Rounded to four.

Ugh I was so disappointed with this book! When I finished Leia's stories and saw that Iola was going to have a book I was super excited and kept looking when it was going to be released, that might've hindered me.

This book was lacking (the author admits her muse left her from this book to work on other projects and sadly it shows) it didn't have the same depth and character development as Leia's books. Not to mention for someone who was a unapologetic HO there wasn't that much sex. She didn't even sleep with one of her mates until the 80% mark. Hated Surt and even though they were mates I would've cheered had Iola left his ass some where.

It was odd too that most of the sex scenes were threesomes, I would've liked to have seen Iola with Fen a lot more or something. You could tell there was a favorite mate and it's not the one I would've chosen.

Can't wait for the Asian version that will come out in the future (at least I think that's what Hazan was we'll see I guess.)

Iola is lookin forward to her two week vacay in Sweden and is definitely looking for some good times to be had. But when she meets hot guy Fen and ends up being entangled with him, Jor and Surtr, she may have gotten more than she bargained for. Luckily she’s had experience with cursed monsters (thanks bestie Leia) but does she want to help them fulfill their destiny or does she want them to stay with her and finally LIVE?

This was such fun! C Rochelle always delivers on filthee smut and top notch plot! Iola is fun and fiesty and doesn’t take any crap and the men are so dynamic and different it just all works!

Plot ⭐⭐.5
Spice 🌶🌶🌶.5
Banter 😂😂
Love-interests 🍆🦋🍆
No third act break-up = kinda ? At least a miscommunication
Ow / om drama = no

⚠️ mentions of death, world-ending; monsters; gods; miscommunication
✔️ the Spice!!
🆗️ the female MC = I did like her alpha mindset, but her obsession was a bit too much for me
🆗️ the male Mcs - I did like 2/3 (didn’t like the grouch)
🆗️ everything was quite insta-everything
❌️ miscommunication

It's not my favourite, but I'm not mad that I read this book either. Usually not into the monster-romance-genre, but I did like this one. Huge possibility that I will read Leia's book, too.
