Fascinating overview of the Reformation. It's not quite an introductory study - if you just want the basic outline of events, this book doesn't provide it. What Rublack does provide, however, is a fascinating look at how Luther's and Calvin's accomplishments are the results of factors in the towns where they started their religious movements. Rublack argues against received notions that the Reformation was more rational than Catholicism, or that it subdued emotions. She also includes a fascinating chapter on how the Reformation affected daily life for new Protestants.
