There were parts of this books that I really liked, the characters, their relationship and the trope. I really wanted to love it, but I just kept getting bored. I loved the parts I read but I skimmed at lot of the book, mostly the end. I thought all of the friends of Victor were a little too 'kooky' and since I hadn't read the other books I didn't really understand a lot of the relationships. Which is fine, I didn't expect anything else since I hadn't read the other books.
So, I really liked the middle, but all the rest was kinda meh.

Loses any plot tension well before the end of the book.

This couple is adorable. It’s a very slow burn but when they get together, it’s delicious. It’s very descriptive and pacing was a bit slow at times but I enjoyed it overall.

Recently a mutual of mine named Brooke reccomended this book to me because she knew I love soft and gentle mmcs and she was absolutely right! This book was so good!

This book follows a grim reaper named Victor and a high fae named Celeste who must get married in order to save Celeste's life. It focuses a lot on their marriage and how they fall in love which I absolutely loved.

The Good
I love Victor. He is peak soft male lead. I liked how much he cares about Celeste immediately and put her wants and needs first. He was so gentle with her and so sincere about treating her as best he could. Celeste was interesting and sweet. I liked the chronic illness representation and that even though she is getting better it wasn't automatic. Their relationship showed how you can be there for your ill partner while also allowing them to have their own personhood and decide their own limits. I liked the slow build between Celeste and Victor as they care more and more for each other. This book was very chill and more fantasy slice of life, there wasn't really a plot other then their relationship and I liked that.

The Bad
While I enjoyed the worldbuilding there was sometimes too much of it added that didn't feel important or necessary for the story. Like do I need to know about the dwarven trading and production? No, not really. I This only happens in the beginning during Victor's parts so it didn't effect my enjoyment much.

Tropes:
— Slow Burn
— Arranged Marriage
— Hurt / Comfort

Horn Level: 3/5

This is very my thing. While I think the pacing of the book is kinda off for the last quarter of the book (there isn't really a climax?) the world building and the relationship are so so good. Extremely sweet.

Possibly the cutest romance I've ever read. Slow burn but I wanted to go back to the start and read it all over again.

There were a couple of plot holes but I loved this couple so much 🥹

buddy read this with my sister ✨

it was super cute and easy to read. I loved Victor he was suuuuch a sweetie. Since this is the 3rd in a companion series and I didn’t read the first two, I did feel a little confused on the world. All the characters from the previous books all got together in the last 10% and it felt like fan service for people who read and enjoyed the first two books, where as for me it felt out of place and cringey.

There was also a lot of plot points that were completely dropped (Celeste’s family, her magic, her ex best friend ditching her forever). Also no confession of love!! Their inner monologues they said they loved each other but i need to see that shit CONFESSED!

Still, super cute and fun and i was definitely giggling and kicking my feet.
