I have never read a book where I feel like I know the author. I have watched Adam on YouTube for years, and this book is so him. I love all the small hints of Adams's personality that peek through. Really the main character doesn't like mushrooms and a subtle nod to GaryC.

Please read if you love young coming-of-age, teen drama, finding yourself, queer, truly British books. Also, the audio version is great and easy to listen to for an American. <3

I feel I've soon reached the level where YA stories start to feel just repetition of each other. This one had a lot, a lot of the ideas that so many books have had before. Which is to say that on its own this is relatively OK, but in a context nothing new.

There were also some characters that were just redundant and didn't need to be there.  I also felt the book lacked decisiveness whether it wanted to have seriousness or not, serious thoughts were thrown in the story but not addressed in the end. Finn didn't have enough personality for me to care.

I'll round my stars up because if a young reader hasn't got a lot of experience in reading this might suffice but at the same time I wish the writer will next time focus on giving solutions instead of throwing too many "funny girl" characters to give the story personality.
