Reviews with content warning for Murder - Renegades

The writing was a little simplistic in characters not recognizing each others’ secrets. I like switching perspectives of course. But the audiobook readers were DREADFUL! Interesting to consider modern political polarization in comparison to their dystopian society.

A lot like a Marvel movie. I don’t think I’ll reread, but I do want to know what happens in the rest of the trilogy.

I hated the ending.

I still think this book is great. It solidly builds up Nova's and Adrian's personality and morals at the beginning and showcases how humanity is a spectrum when it comes to what we see as right and wrong. No one is truly evil or good in the world, though some would be so in our opinion, but the Marissa Meyer really focuses on how it is up to interpretation of the reader and those around the character.

I loved the character development we get in the book and how well it sets up for the second. The conflicts both internal and external are highlights for me and I can't wait to see more of in the second book and how it all concludes in the third.

Those who have extraordinary abilities. Read that as "superheroes". They rose in power after Ace Anarchy fell to Captain Chromium. This is the first book in the series, and hearing this on audio was a thrill. The switch between Rebecca and Dan narrating was fantastic. The story that Marissa weaves is enthralling. For anyone who wants to be taken on a grand adventure, this one is for you. For the superhero versus villains trope, this one breaks the mold.
